Claude ports Ken Silverman's Voxlap to GPU in about two hours
idanbeck · x · 2026-10-01
Game developer Gavan Wilks (@gavanw) used Claude to loosely port Ken Silverman's classic software voxel engine Voxlap to the GPU, with two paths: a rendering mode closer to the original per-column coherence (currently slower and unoptimized), and independent per-pixel rays using Amanatides–Woo DDA. The whole port took about 1-2 hours with only light guidance. @idanbeck says he'll now try something crazier on top of it.
