The Computer History Museum is running "Extended Reality: Visions of the Future," a special exhibit from October 1, 2026 through March 28, 2027, featuring more than 100 VR/AR/MR and smart devices spanning six decades.
Highlights range from the 1960s Sutherland head-mounted 3D display to Google Glass, the Vive VR headset, and today's AI-powered smart glasses, tracing how wearable computing evolved from lab experiments to consumer devices and examining AI's growing role.
Interactive XR demos run on select Saturdays (October 2026–January 2027), open to visitors aged 13 and up.
