Google launches Guided Vision: Gemini now narrates your camera feed live
ZoubinGhahrama1 · x · 2026-10-02
Google is launching Guided Vision in Gemini Live on compatible Android devices, aimed at people who are blind, have low vision, or need situational assistance. By sharing your camera, the AI gives real-time audio descriptions of whatever you point at—reading small text, describing surroundings, finding or identifying objects, and detailing specific items.
The feature is also available in Google TalkBack, or via an accessibility shortcut on Android 9+. Users can ask follow-up questions (e.g., reading an expiration date on an item Gemini helped find), and Gemini provides audio cues to line up the camera when the target is out of frame. Google cautions users not to rely on it entirely. It parallels Apple's VoiceOver Live Recognition on iPhone and Vision Pro.
