Claude Code launches Mods: customize behavior and UI with a few prompts or TypeScript
bcherny · x · 2026-10-02
Claude Code now supports Mods — users can change how Claude behaves, customize the UI, and swap in their own features by prompting Claude or writing a few lines of TypeScript.
Mods ship inside plugins, so they install via /plugin in the CLI or desktop app. Boris Cherny notes everyone works differently, so there's no reason everyone should have an identical Claude experience, and users can share their Mods as plugins for others to try. Example mods are available in the announcement.
