Critic calls Figure's F.02 furnace stunt bad recycling for complex robots
MarwaEldiwiny · x · 2026-10-02
Following Figure's stunt of sending retired F.02 humanoid robots into a furnace, MarwaEldiwiny pushes back on the soda-can recycling analogy: humanoids contain custom actuators, cameras, control boards, sensors and multi-material wiring — expensive engineered machines vs a cents-cost single-material can. She notes the robots were even trained to jump into the furnace, and argues burning F.02 doesn't address IP risk for F.03/F.04 anyway. Recycling matters, but incinerating a whole complex robot isn't the answer.
