Anthropic launches Claude Code Mods: rewrite behavior and UI with a few lines of TypeScript
ClaudeDevs · x · 2026-10-02
Anthropic announced Claude Code Mods, small TypeScript modules that can rewrite prompts, draw custom UI, replace built-in features, or add entirely new functionality to Claude Code. You can write one yourself or ask Claude Code to build it.
- Mods are hooks on steroids: they can rewrite events, render new UI, and swap out features
- They ship inside plugins and install via /plugin in the CLI or desktop app
- Anthropic already built features like /diff and AGENTS.md support using Mods
- Caveat: Mods run with the same machine access as Claude Code, are not sandboxed, and should only be installed from trusted sources
