We shipped 2,000 MCP integrations. Enterprise customers wanted only their own 20

CrewAI founder João Moura recounts a product misread: building 2,000 MCP-based tool integrations, only for enterprise customers to say they wanted a private registry of their 20 internal MCPs instead.
His takeaway: thinking as a platform builder rather than an enterprise operator. More public connectors read as capability from outside, but inside, what matters is what's already wired into your auth and data rules. Public catalogs are convenience; internal MCPs are the business.
