The Router Economy: ChatGPT referrals boosted signups 36x for six days, then a platform change took it away

Lukas Campos (Audioscrape) writes "The Router Economy" from first-hand data:
- From Sep 4, ChatGPT's in-conversation plugin manager started recommending his transcription product; daily signups via ChatGPT hit 36x baseline for six days, peaking at 47x.
- On Sep 9 at 22:00 UTC, a platform-wide plugin-search change dropped post-early-August plugins (including his); multiple developers saw it the same hour. Traffic settled at 3.5x+ baseline.
- Thesis: AI assistants are becoming the router between people and every business — they decide who gets the work and where money flows. Opaque platform changes can create or seize entire acquisition channels overnight, a shift in channel power from search engines to AI routers.
