Dev criticizes new AI design tools: what you design still isn't what you ship

Engineer alexbarashkov argues that the wave of new AI design tools (Pencil, Paper, Elyx, MagicPath, etc.) shares two structural flaws: a middleman problem—what you design is still not the code you ship, even when rendered via HTML/React—and a lack of a single source of truth, with design once again living in two places. He contends that in the AI era, developers want to see exact component behavior and rendering, not another Figma-style canvas.
