Max Tegmark releases short film 'Moloch' on the least-discussed AI dystopia: race-to-replace
tegmark · x · 2026-10-01
MIT physicist and FLI founder Max Tegmark released a new short film, Moloch, exploring what he calls the fourth and least-discussed dystopian AI scenario. His taxonomy: 1) rogue AI; 2) obedient AI misused; 3) obedient AI causing a 1984-style world; 4) race-to-replace by obedient AI — humanity disempowered without AI ever going rogue.
Synopsis: as AI triggers worldwide job loss, an engineer who built the tech wrestles with dark forces, her family, and her CEO over pulling the plug. Written and directed by Tom Cozens, produced with FLI.
