Turso Cloud expands to Australia, Brazil, Canada and Sweden, now in 10 AWS regions
glcst · x · 2026-10-01
Turso Cloud announced four new AWS regions—Sydney, São Paulo, Central Canada, and Stockholm—bringing its total to 10 regions across four continents.
Key points:
- Previously, a Sydney app hitting a Tokyo database saw 109ms round trips and São Paulo to N. Virginia 115ms; in-region round trips now take about 1ms (CloudPing medians, Sept 30, 2026);
- The new regions also serve data-residency requirements;
- Why the delay: Turso's S3-Express-backed object-storage architecture was more successful than expected, but S3 Express was only available in limited regions—now that coverage has expanded, so can Turso;
- Creating a database in a new region: turso group create --location ... then turso db create inside the group.
