Cloudflare announced GA of its data platform, renamed Cloudflare Basin: a serverless analytics stack built on Apache Iceberg and R2. It comprises Basin Pipelines (ingest events from Workers/HTTP/Logpush, transform with SQL into Iceberg tables), Basin Catalog (metadata management and automatic table maintenance), and Basin SQL (a serverless distributed SQL engine querying Iceberg directly). Motivated by Iceberg becoming the open table standard and R2's zero egress fees enabling cost-efficient multi-tool access, the platform offers instant setup and usage-based pricing.
