Bill Gates: robots replacing workers should pay the same FICA tax humans did

On the Ezra Klein Show, Bill Gates argued that when a company fires a worker and puts a robot in that job, the robot should pay the same FICA tax the human paid — since active workers fund retirees, replacing them shouldn't be a way to skip the pension bill. "Society gets to decide. Just because the economic signals say it'd be lower cost to use an AI doesn't mean society has to do that."
