Researchers flag apparently fake citations in paper, calling passages 'rather LLMish'

Erik Hoel warned that some citations in a paper appear to be made up, noting at least one cited work isn't real. Long Ouyang (rgblong) agreed, adding that while he likes many of the authors and finds the project interesting, many passages throughout the paper read to him as "rather LLMish" — a likely case of LLM-generated or LLM-assisted writing slipping fabricated references into an academic text.
