ChatGPT safety filter false positives burn paid image credits until users get locked out
ctsr1 · reddit · 2026-10-01
A Reddit user details what they call the "safety filter tax" in ChatGPT image generation: outputs blocked by the post-generation classifier still count against paid usage limits. After repeated false-positive blocks, the user hit the "out of Work usage, wait until Sunday or upgrade to Pro" wall.
Ironically, test generations of revealing outfits went through without issue, while a request for a fully-clothed realistic photo ran for over two minutes, got blocked for "sexual content," and returned nothing.
The user argues that generations the system refuses to deliver shouldn't consume paid credits at all.
