Editor open-sources open-fusion-mcp: Claude builds editable motion graphics inside DaVinci Resolve

An editor/colorist has open-sourced open-fusion-mcp (MIT), an MCP server and agent skills for building editable motion graphics inside DaVinci Resolve Fusion. He used Opus 5.5 for the integration and iterative testing; the repo includes a 59-second demo built by Claude Code agents—seven scenes in one editable Fusion comp, directed by a human through multiple rounds of timeline notes.
Design choices:
- 11 MCP tools: fucatalog discovers operations, fudo runs them—179 operations behind that interface
- A scene builder converts layer-level descriptions into native Fusion nodes, plus lower-level graph operations
- Argument validation and read-back checks; frame renders returned as inline images so the agent can inspect results
- A single worker serializes connector calls; timeouts marked uncertain so the agent re-reads state before retrying
- Project/category allowlists, read-only mode, dry runs; batches share one undo step but aren't transactional
Speed and cost are now close to Higgsfield's After Effects connector in his tests, though Fusion's RAM usage remains painful. Requires Resolve Studio 21.1 + Python 3.12; tested only on Apple Silicon macOS.
