Paraguay's $12B Iguazú AI City to host Latin America's largest data center

Araico Corporation is developing the Iguazú AI City hyperscale campus in Yguazú, Alto Paraná — a $12 billion project, the largest private investment in Paraguay's history, set to host Latin America's biggest data center for AI training and deployment.
- Three phases: Phase 1 is $300M with six modules and 6 MW live by December; Phases 2 and 3 are $5.5B each, designed to scale to gigawatt level
- Around 3,000 jobs in the advanced stage, plus demand for transformers, cables and metalwork
- Backed by Paraguayan and US capital, with engineer training via the Paraguay-Taiwan Polytechnic University
The poster notes Paraguay is finally extracting some benefit from its rare pro-Taiwan stance, and quips there won't be many datacenter water-use protests at Iguazu.
