Jeffrey Emanuel's open-source app FrankenMarkdown has finally been approved and is live on the App Store — free, with no ads, in-app purchases, accounts, or tracking.
Highlights:
- Live syntax highlighting, line numbers, outline, and auto-updating preview; side-by-side source/output on iPad and Mac
- Document Lab: word/reading stats, structure and accessibility checks, semantic revision comparison, polished templates
- A bundled Rust rendering engine handles typography, tables, code, and math locally, exporting to PDF or self-contained HTML/site packages
- Fully local: text never leaves the device unless you export it
It runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac at 11.7 MB.
