A developer has released PixHunt, an Android gallery app with fully on-device AI:
- Semantic search: describe photos naturally ("my dog at the beach") to find them; OCR search highlights matched text inside images
- Similar photo lookup and people detection with naming, enabling queries like "Mark at the cafe"
- Clean-up: finds duplicates, near-duplicates, screenshots and blurry photos
- Supports English and Arabic; includes a built-in gallery
- Key selling point: all AI processing happens locally — no cloud uploads, photos never leave the phone
APK v1.0.0 is on GitHub; the author is actively seeking feedback.
