Voice AI company Inworld has acquired Ultravox, bringing a real-time voice agent platform under the same roof as its own speech models and inference stack.
- Ultravox is a platform for building real-time voice agents (support lines, tutors, companion apps) that handles understanding, reasoning, tool calls, and replies — plus the timing problem of distinguishing a pause from a finished turn and yielding when interrupted.
- Inworld trains its own speech models and serves LLM inference to major consumer AI apps. All built-in Ultravox voices now upgrade to Inworld Realtime TTS-2, ranked first on the Artificial Analysis blind-listening leaderboard, supporting 200+ languages, sub-100ms first-audio latency, and natural-language direction like "yell with anger" or "slow down to a warm whisper."
