Composer-turned-journalist launches 10-part Light Box podcast on AI's disruption of music
ChrisGPotts · x · 2026-10-01
Light Box is a 10-part reported podcast series by Mark Henry Phillips, a working composer (Serial, Radiolab, This American Life) and former WNYC On the Media producer, launching Sept. 15 with weekly episodes.
The premise: in 2024 he typed a few words into an AI music generator and it did his job better than he could — in ten seconds, basically for free. The series investigates from the inside what AI is actually doing to music and what it means when a machine can do the thing that defined your identity, based on a year of reporting.
