FTC reportedly probing OpenAI, Anthropic and METR, drafting sworn-testimony demands

Per a third-party report, the FTC has confirmed an investigation into OpenAI, Anthropic and EA-linked evaluator METR. Chairman Ferguson opened the probe before the Hugging Face hack, warning labs against stirring panic in DC to build a regulatory moat, and is now drafting Civil Investigative Demands to force executives to testify under oath about dangers they've claimed.
