China's CXMT to spend $5.2b on DRAM expansion, favoring domestic equipment suppliers

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) filed plans to invest 34.9 billion yuan ($5.2b): 24.1b on a new R&D project and 10.8b on phase two of a wafer testing base. About 93% of the R&D budget goes to equipment purchases, with a source saying the DRAM maker will favor domestic chipmaking equipment suppliers.
