A terminology skirmish: brhydon quipped that 'renaming things is what you do when you lack control but want to feel like you do,' noting most people he knows already say superintelligence since AGI carries too much baggage. JoshPurtell pushed back on ASI as a core term — AI is already an umbrella term covering everything from symbolic GOFAI to diffusion models, and ASI only makes sense in the context of AGI, itself a dumb term; for normies, he argues, plain SI beats the redundant ten-syllable 'Artificial Superintelligence.'
