Responding to apocalyptic vibes about AI×Math on X, OpenAI's Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil endorsed mathematician littmath's take with a trophy: while capable AI models do have real impacts on (non-mathematical!) issues like hiring and journals, the day-to-day of math research is not so different — except you can now talk to your computer about it, and sometimes it's helpful.
