- Google Maps now requires users to sign in with a Google account to view all reviews on a Business Profile, as well as to sort or leave reviews.
- Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable speculates the change is aimed at blocking AI platforms, bots, and third-party scrapers from harvesting Google review data.
- The change was independently spotted by multiple users on X and LinkedIn.
