Open Pstack: Codex as parent, Devin implements, Claude reviews — multi-provider agent orchestration

A maintainer open-sourced the MIT-licensed Open Pstack (building on Lauren Tan's Pstack and ports by Michael Denyer and Eric Litman): Codex or Claude Code acts as the parent agent coordinating tasks, while workers use other providers through their own authenticated CLIs and subscriptions. Repo: open-pstack.
Typical config: keep Codex as parent, assign implementation to devin:swe-2@high, review to Claude, and give exploration its own role. Run pstack:setup-pstack to verify access and save roles, then invoke pstack:poteto-mode with a bounded change. Prerequisites: Bun plus the chosen providers' CLIs.
Engineering details:
- A Devin implementation worker gets a dedicated Git worktree and runs edits/tests via sandboxed shell; a read-only worker can inspect files but not run tests
- External workers don't inherit the parent's MCP connections — tasks needing those tools must stay with the parent or a native agent
- The Devin adapter requires a final nonempty agent message with no pending tool calls; a zero exit code alone doesn't count as completion — and this only validates response shape, not code correctness, so the parent still inspects the diff
- The documented workflow uses a repo-specific feature map listing real features to exercise
Cost angle: as of Sept 30, Devin lists Pro at $20/month with free SWE-2 use in Desktop/CLI through Oct 16, 2026; Open Pstack itself is free.
