Minneapolis-St. Paul airport turns on private Ericsson 5G for airfield vehicles

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport has activated a private 5G network from Ericsson across its airfield, keeping snowplows, fuel trucks, tram cameras, shared ticket carts and staff tablets connected off the public carrier network. The 5-square-mile campus handled 36M passengers and 342K takeoffs/landings in 2025; the commission's CIO calls it "a city without residents."
