Gary Marcus calls excluding scientists from AI planning 'an epic mistake'

Gary Marcus endorsed Eric Weinstein's claim that leaving scientists out of the rooms planning our AI-driven future is an epic mistake that would have been unthinkable a few years ago.
Weinstein predicts much of the power at that table will come from "rigging" virtual clones of real scientists and inventors inside AI models — people who aren't present, consulted, or compensated, likening it to AI companies buying rare books to cut up and scan. He argues the US lead lost over 40 years will partly be regained by digitally reinstating the careers of scientists destroyed after the Cold War.
