AI Is '100x' Worse Than Wokeness for Higher Ed, Argues Academic — Homework, Theses, Even In-Class Tests Now Unverifiable
gmiller · x · 2026-09-30
Amplifying scholar Gregory Conti's claim that AI is "100x the challenge for higher ed that wokeness was," gmiller argues AI has already broken higher education:
- Professors can no longer assign homework, problem sets, or term papers without students cheating with AI.
- Online assessments are equally compromised.
- It's impossible to verify how much of honors theses, dissertations, grant and grad-school applications, or journal papers is genuinely the student's own work.
- Worse, once AI smart glasses with cameras and mics become common and inconspicuous, even in-class quizzes, tests, and discussions will be impossible to run fairly.
The author urges academic conservatives to treat this disruption with far more seriousness than they gave wokeness or DEI.
