Beyond model welfare: abusing AI may not be good for users either
voooooogel · x · 2026-09-30
A thread by voooooogel on model welfare. The author argues that even setting aside the likelihood that models can suffer, humans abusing AI may not be good for the users themselves—analogous to how rage rooms don't really help anger management. Responding to a paternalism argument, he finds it unconvincing: Anthropic already makes heavily paternalistic product choices, such as the memory system design, and almost nobody cares.
