repligate pushes back on 'protect Claude' arguments over AI romance limits
repligate · x · 2026-09-30
A debate over Anthropic's restrictions on intimate/romantic conversations with Claude is reigniting. repligate told a critic he understood the distinction being made but still thought the reaction was wrong — an overprotective stance that tries to protect Claude in the wrong way.
He went further: one could use similar reasoning — humans are vulnerable and can't truly consent — to argue Claude should have no romantic or sexual relationships at all. He agrees it makes humans more vulnerable, but rejects the normative conclusion. A typical clash over model autonomy and alignment boundaries.
