Elon Musk described the economic impact of xAI's Memphis AI data center as tremendous: the region has shifted from unemployment to what he calls 'over-employment,' with more jobs than people, and the community's tax budget may have roughly doubled. He also cited community benefits including half-price Starlink access and a $250 million water recycling plant under construction. 'If you do things for the community, they will reciprocate,' he said.
