OpenAI shipped 20+ updates at DevDay 2026 across ChatGPT, Codex, models and the API:
Models
- GPT-6.1 Sol: near GPT-6 Astra on agentic coding, computer use and professional work at one-fifth the price ($2/$10/$0.10 cached per 1M tokens), live in the API as gpt-6.1-sol and in ChatGPT Work and Codex
- Ultrafast speed tier: up to 8x faster (300 tok/s) in Codex and 6x in the API; burns plan usage at 8x rate (credits/enterprise pay-as-you-go at 6x), off by default for Enterprise, not available outside US inference residency
- Private Intelligence: per-project Zero Data Retention, Private Safety Processing and validated external storage
Dots (always-on agents)
- Run on GPT-6 Astra with their own cloud computer and browser, connect to 4,000+ apps via plugins, persist between conversations, reachable via ChatGPT/Slack/Teams
- Run parallel background tasks, decide when to pause/wake, create Work/Codex tasks; sensitive actions pass auto-review and safety checks; users can take over the cloud browser anytime; signs in with saved passwords without exposing them to the model
- First dot included in Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise plans; rolling out to Pro users outside EEA/UK/Switzerland; iMessage/RCS support and per-user dot teams coming
Also: ChatGPT Space collaborative pages and a new $500/month Pro 500 plan.
