UK AI workers' open letter calls for banning non-competes and lengthy notice periods

An open letter, "Free to Start and Scale," backed by inherent Labs and others, argues Britain is unusually permissive on non-competes, lengthy notice periods and garden leave—particularly damaging in AI, where a month locked out of the labor market leaves you far behind. Contrasting California, where workers can join or found companies overnight, it urges the Government to ban lengthy post-termination restrictions and curb extended notice periods and garden leave, saying they lower wages, reduce competition and undermine innovation.
