Baseten joins OpenAI's B2B marketplace as a first open-model inference provider

Inference provider Baseten announced it has joined OpenAI's B2B marketplace as one of the first open-model inference providers. OpenAI enterprise customers can now natively use open models powered by Baseten inside Codex and via the Responses API.
Baseten notes the best AI companies already run a mix of closed and open models at huge scale. Former OpenAI researcher Nathan Lambert called it a hugely bullish signal for open models — evidence that OpenAI feels pressure to serve users with open models, and that "it's not a world where OpenAI alone can build all the models its customers need."
