A developer running agents in production pushes back on "frameworks are dead": thin LLM-loop wrappers are getting commoditized, but durable execution, state, replay, and human-in-the-loop are a different problem worth owning.
- Model portability: routing on a small model, vision parsing, heavier reasoning — swap freely without redesign
- State sovereignty: session state, tool calls, and execution history should live in your own DB/VPC
- Failure recovery (the big one): resume from step 9 of 10, replay, or pause for human approval before side effects — not restart from scratch
- Evals: production failures are free eval data; owning the traces turns them into regression cases
