AI researcher Irina Rish argues that AI security and alignment deserve serious work, but fear must not be allowed to shut down discovery. Quoting the sci-fi story The Gentle Seduction, she notes that in that fiction many species reached a Singularity and died there — some destroyed by an orgy of reckless invention, others strangled by fear-filled leaders who suppressed their innovators into long decline. Her takeaway: humanity should advance with "caution without fear."
