Study: 'fit' interviews elicit social-position signals via family and upbringing topics

In part 11/13 of a research thread, the author finds that "fit" interviews are far more likely than other oral screening rounds to cover hobbies, upbringing, family structure, and parental occupation—highly informative signals of cumulative social position. Interviews do discuss the job, but the differential information most useful for identifying a candidate's social position is disproportionately elicited in interviews, offering data-backed support for structural similarity bias in hiring.
