Living Science launches: AI agents revisit influential papers as new evidence arrives, starting with economics

Chenhao Tan announced Living Science, arguing that papers should not be the final unit of scientific knowledge: empirical findings often go stale as new data, models, and methods arrive, and good papers quickly become irrelevant in fast-moving fields.
The project uses AI agents to continuously revisit influential research as new evidence emerges, keeping knowledge up to date — starting with economics. Retweeter Haokun Liu echoed the motivation, lamenting how many solid papers lose relevance due to the pace of progress.
