Ethan Mollick revisited OpenAI's DevDay demonstration of what agents would look like, noting the entire approach was scrapped soon after with the arrival of OpenClaw and self-organizing agent swarms.
His takeaways: (1) AI is evolving extremely fast, and (2) AI labs often fail to anticipate how quickly their own products will change. A sign that the agent ecosystem is moving faster than the leading labs' own roadmaps.
