OpenAI Explains $200 Plan Quota Change Ahead of Dev Day

Ahead of Dev Day, OpenAI offered an explanation for changes to usage rules on its $200 plan (screenshot sourced from an OpenAI staffer's post by @thsottiaux).
The poster plays devil's advocate: on the 5x and 20x (now 10x) subscriptions, chat messages and Deep Research outside "Work" mode draw from separate pools that don't count against the weekly quota, so OpenAI does provide substantial extra "free" usage.
He speculates OpenAI may announce new 5x/10x-tier features at Dev Day (e.g. always-on cloud agents), which would explain the quota change without users complaining their weekly allowance drains faster.
