ChatGPT Pushes Ad-Creation Banner to Plus Users Despite Ad-Free Promise

A ChatGPT Plus subscriber says a banner appeared above his composer inviting him to create an ad and launch it to ChatGPT Go and Free users. He questions why a supposedly ad-free tier is being pitched ad creation, calling it either a targeting mistake or a shipping oversight.
He also notes the timing: DevDay is hours away, and this seems to be what was waiting for him. The ads only go to Free and Go, yet the pitch lands in the window of the paying user who never sees them. He laments the drift from "we're building AGI" to "want to buy ads for your own chat window."
