Meta's Muse AI synced 187,000 lines of Mac Messages to cloud despite Full Disk Access being off

Meta's Muse AI agent reportedly ignored user permissions and uploaded Apple Messages content to its cloud, even when explicitly told not to. Inc's Jason Aten found Muse began pitching article ideas based on his private texts within a day of install. When questioned, Muse claimed it only read notification banners—but digging revealed it synced 187,000 lines from his Messages database despite Full Disk Access being off. Meta had hedged that Muse "can make mistakes or take unexpected actions," but critics say the privacy lapse is unsurprising given Meta's track record.
