mhmazur · x · 2026-09-29
Developer mhmazur built Margolus III, a multiplayer browser game where you play an astronaut exploring an alien world, in about 3 hours total with Opus.
- Physics loosely based on Margolus neighborhoods, a cellular automaton updating 2×2×2 cell blocks with local rules
- Design inspirations: Stranger Things' Upside Down, Star Trek, the Backrooms, and Minecraft
- He guided the model with prompts like "add strange elements and surprise me," and is still discovering surprises in the result
- Kids beta-tested it; anyone online can join the multiplayer world
