Base44 launched Base Code: teams connect their existing GitHub repository, and non-engineers — designers, PMs, QA — can describe changes in plain English. The change is built on the real product and comes back as a standard GitHub pull request, with engineering still reviewing and merging.
The author's framing: taste is becoming more important than code. The people with the best product judgment often can't change the product — designers see broken empty states, PMs know the copy is wrong, QA files bugs nobody picks up for weeks. Tools like this let more people build while engineering keeps ownership of what ships, working on existing code with nothing moved.
