Stanford's Rishi Bommasani questions whether anyone adequately uses the usage statistics frontier AI labs now publish. He has advocated for such disclosures for years—Anthropic alone has released 5-6 Economic Index editions—yet remains uncertain who consumes the data and what the return is.
He is asking economists, researchers, policymakers, industry decision-makers, and journalists to share the most compelling public uses of such statistics, whether consumer, enterprise, or internal, from Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, or any other AI company.
