Researcher RexDouglass criticized an opponent's proposed updating rule in a methodology debate: real-world measurements are either linear in each other or they aren't, and a researcher's job is to synthesize a SOTA prior, a research design, and an updating procedure — none of which the other side did.
He mocked the proposal with an analogy: "just like frequentism is so broken you can spoof it by running two correlations, this made-up hack patches that single vulnerability while introducing a dozen others." The exchange centers on what counts as rigorous evidence updating.
