AMD has acquired World Labs ($8.2B), with Fei-Fei Li joining AMD as EVP & chief scientist. World Labs, co-founded by Li in 2024 after raising $230M, bets on "world generation"/spatial intelligence as the next AI frontier. It shipped Marble, a product generating downloadable 3D worlds from text, image, or video prompts, targeting storytelling, filmmaking, architecture, robotics, and science. The deal puts AMD squarely into the world model race.
