OpenAI rumored to launch 'Aeon' 24/7 assistant at DevDay to catch up in agents

Ahead of its 2026 DevDay, OpenAI is rumored to be launching Aeon, a continuously running consumer AI agent — its answer to Meta's Muse, SpaceX's Grok Bot, OpenClaw, and others in a crowded market.
The Verge notes that while OpenAI popularized the generative chatbot, it has fallen behind in persistent consumer agents. To win, Aeon would need to combine OpenClaw's usefulness, Muse's cheap setup, and Instinct's chat simplicity, while solving the security risks that have plagued agents since OpenClaw's rise.
